More about Brannick:
Brannick is the eldest son of a prominent and wealthy merchant in Iara. When his firstborn showed signs of Infernal heritage at birth (black eyes with no iris, small horns) Brannick's mother rejected him. His father, however, spent the next few years searching for a 'cure' for his son's 'condition,' keeping the child shut within the house, out of the sight of others. Following the birth of two 'normal' children, the Merchant's wife began to fear that the eldest would harm the others (especially after catching Brannick speaking to his sister in the Infernal tongue) his father began to make plans to ship Brannick to a remote monastery. Not knowing his father's intentions, believing his mother meant to kill him (which was an unjustified fear), Brannick took some jewels and coin and escaped into the city.
He found little acceptance outside the walls of his parents' home, and would have perhaps starved if it hadn't been for Lily, a half-orc child who had influence among a gang of street-children (or at least they were afraid of her.) With her protection and his quick wits, the two of them became a team of sneak thieves and burglars, gaining the attention of Sly Alem the Halfling Crime-Lord, who has brought them into his employ.
